Las Piñas LGU cites victory of a local swimmer

The local government of Las Piñas City congratulated swimmer James Allen Papango for bringing home bronze medals from the prestigious Asian Schools Invitation Championship 2024 held in Bangkok.

Papango, a native of Las Piñas City, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Imelda Aguilar on Feb. 22.

Aguilar said Papango, a beacon of youthful talent in sports, showcased exceptional prowess in the pool, bringing home bronze medals in both the 100m and 50m backstroke events against a competitive field of swimmers from across Asia.

She said Papango’s achievements have not only placed him on the international swimming map but have also served as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes.

Aguilar commended Papango for his hard work, dedication, and the honor he brought to Las Piñas.

She said the city government, in recognition of Papango's accomplishments, pledged to continue supporting local athletes, emphasizing the importance of sports development programs in fostering excellence and discipline among the youth.
