PNP ready to assist in serving subpoena vs Quiboloy, but Acorda says no request so far
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not received any request so far from both the House of Representatives and the Senate to assist in the serving of subpoena to Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy.
But if there would be any, PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said the police organization is always ready to assist for whatever assistance that the Congress would ask from them.
“On the part of the PNP, it is part of its mandate and it is always ready to provide assistance if requested by the Senate,” said Acorda.
Quiboloy was tasked to attend the Senate hearing on allegations of large-scale human trafficking and sexual abuses on March 5.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros warned that Quiboloy would be arrested if he would dare to snub the Senate subpoena.
Acorda, for his part, said the PNP has procedures in dealing with cases similar to the serving of subpoena issued against Quiboloy.
“There are some procedures that would be done, that would be followed. As long as these procedures are followed, there would be no problem,” said Acorda.
But so far, Acorda said there is still no request yet from the Senate.
