Guilty! Navotas RTC gives guilty verdict to 5 cops behind Jemboy Baltazar killing

Five out of six police officers involved in the killing of Jerhode “Jemboy” Baltazar were found guilty by the Navotas City Regional Trial Court Branch 286 on Tuesday, February 27.

PSSgt. Gerry Maliban was found guilty of homicide while PEMS. Roberto Balais, PSSgt.  Nikko Esquilon, PCpl. Edmard Jade Blanco, and Pat. Benedict Mangada have been found guilty of illegal discharge of firearms.

Meanwhile, PSSgt. Antonio Bugayong was acquitted.

The six officers surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Quezon Provincial Field Unit in Camp Nakar, Lucena City, Quezon on October 4, 2023.

Jemboy Baltazar, 17, was shot and killed by the operatives after they mistook him for a crime suspect.
