Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has opened the registration for Miss Manila 2024.
Miss Manila is a project of the city government aiming to crown a Manileña who embodies the values of empowerment and leadership, and delivers meaningful contributions to her fellow Manileños.
The event was established in 1998 under the administration of Mayor Alfredo Lim but was discontinued in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was relaunched in 2023 by Lacuna-Pangan and the Department of Tourism, Culture and the Arts (DTCAM) under its director Charlie Dungo.
The mayor invites qualified candidates to compete to become the face of the capital city.
For Mayor Honey, Miss Manila must be a "woman of worth," true to herself, has strong advocate for all the rights of all women, a leader, a nurturer, and a change maker.
According to Dungo, contestants must be female residents of Manila aged 18 to 30, single, of good moral character, and either a student or employed.
Applicants may submit their requirements via http://www.missmanila.ph.
The coronation of Miss Manila will be held on June 22, as part of the activities lined up for the celebration of the city's founding anniversary "Araw ng Maynila."
The top 100 candidates will be selected from the online application, where 50 women will be chosen for the face-to-face audition with the Miss Manila Executive Committee.
Dungo said only 25 candidates will be chosen as finalists for the pageant night, while only five of them will win the titles: Miss Manila 2024; Miss Manila Tourism; Miss Manila Charity; and First and Second runner-ups.
