Earlier, Padilla also apologized to the Senate’s Sergeant-at-Arms and the Medical and Dental Bureau over the fiasco.
“Labis ko pong ikinabahala ang isyung kinabilangan ng aking maybahay na si Mariel Padilla ukol sa pagsasagawa ng vitamin intravenous drip sa loob ng aking opisina sa Senado noong nakaraang Lunes, ika-19 ng Pebrero, 2024, (I am very concerned about the issue involving my wife, Mariel Padilla, regarding the administration of vitamin intravenous drip inside my Senate office last Monday, February 19, 2024),” Padilla said in his letter.
“Kaugnay nito, nais ko pong ipahatid ang aking sinserong paghingi ng paumanhin kung ito ay nagdulot ng kagambalaan sa liderato ng Senado, sa ating mga iginagalang na kasamahan, at sa lahat ng bumubuo ng institusyon (In this regard, I would like to convey my sincere apologies if this has caused disruption to the leadership of the Senate, our respected colleagues, and all the constituents of the institution),” he also said.
Binay, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, earlier expressed concern over the “Vitamin C” drip session conducted within the Senate, saying the incident should be closely looked into “because it involves issues of conduct, integrity and reputation of the institution and matters that concern health and safety.”
