Globe Telecom Inc. has teamed up with six other foreign telecommunication companies to launch the "Rewards Alliance" program that offers cross-border services for their customers in the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia.

These partner telcos include Singapore-based Singtel, Australian firm Optus, Thailand's Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), Hong Kong's HKT, Australian firm Optus, Taiwan Mobile, and Indonesia's Telkomsel.

Optus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singtel, while AIS, HKT, Telkomsel, and Globe are Singtel's regional associates.

Through the rewards program, subscribers will be able to earn and use rewards, claim and redeem transport, dining, merchandise, and service deals when they travel to any of the aforementioned countries. Users may also be able to gain customer support access from their respective telco via calls or online while overseas at no cost.

The program is expected to roll out in the second half of this year.

“As a brand focused on providing unique experiences as our differentiator and having a deeper relationship with our subscribers, we are excited to partner with other leading telcos in the region through this Rewards Alliance to elevate the travel experience of our subscribers well beyond just connectivity," remarked Globe Consumer Mobile Business Head Darius Delgado.

The cross-border perks can be availed by Filipino users through Globe's GOMO PH platform, which already offers roaming services in more than 160 destinations.

Singtel Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Business Development Head Anna Yip emphasized the rewards made available for people visiting Singapore and the other markets within the alliance.

"We’re starting with our regional partners but plan to expand this programme to cover key travel corridors and popular destinations globally so our customers will have an even wider array of opportunities and new experiences to enjoy when they’re abroad," she said.

The travel and lifestyle offerings of the program will help boost the tourism industries of the respective companies' home countries, by granting special privileges and localized deals for travelers to enjoy, noted the partner companies.
