After apologizing on IV drip fiasco, Robin Padilla wants a stop to 'political' issue
Senator Robinhood Padilla on Monday, February 26 called for a stop to the “Vitamin C” drip controversy surrounding his wife, actress-host Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla.
Padilla made the call in a brief interview before the start of the Senate’s 3 p.m. plenary session.
“Tigilan niyo na ang political issue na ‘yan. Nakaka-ano, sa totoo lang. Ang dami nating dapat pagusapan, di siguro ang ganitong, wala tayong ano... Okay, thank you po,” Padilla told reporters during the ambush interview.
Prior to this, the senator sent out letters to some Senate officials, particularly the Senate’s Medical and Dental Bureau, and the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms to formally apologize regarding the incident pertaining to his wife’s “IV drip” session inside his office last week.
The issue made the rounds on social media after Mrs. Padilla posted the drip session on Instagram; she later deleted it.
In separate interviews, some senators also believe it is time to move from the fiasco.
“Kung nag-apologize na pala, siguro eh wala nang dapat pagusapan kung humingi na ng paumanhin (If they have apologized, I think there’s no need to discuss about it since there is already an apology),” said Sen. Francis Tolentino, in a press conference also on Monday.
“Humingi na ng paumanhin tanggapin na natin yun. In the age of social media, talagang madaling lumaganap ‘yang ganyan. Sa akin, siguro dapat magusap si Senator Nancy at Senator Robin kung ano ang katanggap-tanggap (They have apologized, let’s accept that. In the age of social media, such incident can easily disseminate fast. For me, I think Sen. Nancy Binay and Sen. Robin should discuss what is acceptable),” he added.
Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. agreed with Tolentino: “If you ask me personally, nag-apologize na ang tao. Bakit pa natin palalakihin ito (the person has apologized. Why do we need to blow this up)?”
