The Lady Tigresses recovered in the fifth and final set to take the solo lead in the standings and remain as the only unbeaten team in three games.
Interestingly, UST was also the first squad to hand La Salle its first defeat last season in the first round.
With the loss, the Taft-based squad absorbed a 2-1 slate behind UST in the table.
Perdido fired 24 points built on 21 attacks and three blocks, while rookie Angge Poyos contributed 21 markers highlighted by 20 kills as they took turns in the offensive production.
Margaret Banagua, for her part, added 11 points in the team’s huge upset victory after also just taking down National University Lady Bulldogs in their opening day encounter.
In the closing set, UST trailed 12-9 and was on the verge of a total collapse before Poyos unloaded back-to-back attacks and lock the game at 12-all.
From there, the España squad went on a strong 6-0 finishing kick to turn back La Salle in the endgame.
Angelo Canino was equally explosive on the offensive end and carried out 28 points to tie her previous career-high record last season.
The reigning rookie-MVP displayed an all-around effort off 24 attacks, three blocks and a service ace to pace the Lady Spikers in the losing cause.
