Sagay City cop dies in motorcycle crash

BACOLOD CITY â€“ A police officer was killed in a motorcycle accident in Hacienda Reboton, Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Friday night, February 23.

The victim was identified as Police Staff Sgt. Ronnie Gamboa, 35, of Barangay Tinampa-an and assigned to the Sagay City Police Station.

Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz police chief, said that Gamboa was off duty and was on his way home around 8:30 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle in the uphill and curved part of the road.

Batusbatusan said the victim swerved and crashed to the ground.

Police believed that the victim might had been speeding as he failed to control his motorcycle.

The victim succumbed to head injuries, according to Batusbatusan.
