With the sizzling temperature in Metro Manila, what better way for United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson to enjoy the country than a visit to the City of Pines.

In separate posts on X, the envoy showed the Ifugao rice terraces and the sunrise from the Camp John Hay in Baguio.

“A joy to marvel at the Ifugao rice terraces — a @UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) world heritage site well worth the hike!,” she wrote, using hashtag  #MaryKayOnTheWay.

“Beautiful sunrise over the Cordillera from Camp John Hay in Baguio, the #CityOfPines! #NoFilter but with smokey haze from area fires,” Carlson said in another post.

The photos she shared saw the sunrise amid the pine trees. She also posted a short clip of the famous rice terraces in Banaue.

The ambassador also posed beside the UNESCO marker of Batad, Banaue, Ifugao, which is 1,100 meters above sea level.

Known as “Little America,” Baguio houses the US Embassy Residence inside Camp John Hay, former American rest-and-recreation area ceded to the Philippines at the start of the 1990s.

The Southern-style, two-storey house had been preserved since it was built in 1940.
