Cold weather likely to continue in Luzon due to 'amihan'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Feb. 25 said portions of Luzon will continue to feel the effects of the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”

In PAGASA's 4 a.m. bulletin, weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the northeast monsoon will bring cold weather and rain showers to Northern and Central Luzon.
"Muli ngang umiiral ang northeast monsoon o amihan dito sa may bahagi ng northern at central Luzon kung saan dala nito iyong malamig na panahon lalong lalo na sa madaling araw at magiging mataas din iyong tyansa ng mahihinang pag-ulan o pag-ambon lalong-lalo na sa bahagi ng northern at central Luzon (The northeast monsoon or amihan is prevailing again in parts of northern and central Luzon where it brings cold weather particularly in the early morning and there will be high chance of rains or rain showers particularly in the northern and central Luzon)," Castañeda said.
In Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon, cloudy skies with light rains will be expected, while Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
It warned of flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
In the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will also be felt due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur in the affected areas during severe thunderstorms.
From Feb. 26 to 29, the actual air temperatures in some key areas are as follows: Metro Manila at 24°C to 32°C; Baguio City (14°C to 25°C); Legazpi City (23°C to 31°C); Tuguegarao City (24°C to 32°C); Davao City (24°C to 32°); Cebu City (25°C to 31°C); Iloilo City (24°C to 32°C); Tacloban City (24°C to 32°C); Cagayan de Oro (24°C to 31°C); and Zamboanga (24°C to 34°C).
