TACLOBAN CITY – Two barangay officials and a tanod were shot dead in Barangay Daja Diot, San Isidro, Leyte by four gunmen on Saturday night, February 24.

San Isidro police chief Police Major Reymund Quinagutan identified the fatalities as Elizalde Tabon, 55, chairman; Paul Al Mandero, 52, kagawad or councilor, and Rusty Salazar, tanod or watchman.
Quinagutan said the suspects arrived on board two motorcycles and shot Salazar who was outside.
They barged into Tabon’s office where he and Mandero and a civilian, Alex Bacor, were having a meeting. Tabon and Mandero were shot in the head and died on the spot.
Bacor was also shot and sustained a bullet wound in the right shoulder.
The gunmen fled and Salazar was taken to the Calubian District Hospital in Leyte he was declared dead.
Police recovered 11 empty .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.
Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigation.
