Senator Nancy Binay said that she's not comfortable with Senator Robin Padilla's recent statement regarding Mariel Padilla's intravenous glutathione (IV gluta) drip procedure at the Senate wherein he claimed that his wife "loves to promote good looks and good health".

"I think medyo I’m not comfortable with, ‘yung phrase na mahilig lang mag-promote ng good looks and good health (I think I'm not comfortable with the phrase that she just likes to promote good looks and good health)," Binay said in a radio interview on Teleradyo on Saturday, Feb. 24.

"It’s not good health kasi wala siyang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and hindi naman porke’t –sa akin din ang pag-whitening, hindi rin ‘yan batayan ng good looks (It's not good health because there's no FDA approval and for me, whitening is not a basis for good looks)," she added.

Binay earlier pointed out that the Department of Health (DOH) had already declared “gluta” drips as unsafe. It has also been banned by the FDA.

Mrs. Padilla drew flak after posting on Instagram that she conducted an IV gluta drip session at the Senate office of her husband. The post has since been deleted.

"What if may nangyari? Hindi alam ng clinic namin na may nangyayaring ganun (What if something bad happened? Our clinic has no idea that's something like that is happening inside)," she said.

Binay also wondered who administered the IV session since she knew that it requires a doctor's approval.

"May doktor ba silang kasama sa opisina? May nurse ba na nandoon na nag-administer ng IV? Kasi kinakatakot ko what if nagkaroon ng problema ang IV drip na ginagawa niya? Hindi kami ospital, hindi kami clinic. What if nagkaroon ng emergency? I don’t think may capability ang Senado dahil hindi nga kami health facility (Do they have a doctor with them in the office? Did a nurse administer the IV? My fear is that what if a problem occurs with the IV drip? I don't think the Senate is capable since we're not a health facility)," she said.

She added that such procedure must be done in a proper place. However, she noted that it's supposed to be prohibited.

She says she will leave it up to the DOH to find out if there's a violation in having an IV drip session in the Senate.

Binay, who is known to be proud of her skin color, says that she will bring this up with Padilla on Monday since she's mainly concerned about his wife's health.

In a separate interview on DWIZ, Padilla joked that the issue made his wife famous, but nonetheless assured everyone that she knew what she was doing.

"Huwag kayong mag-alala, alam po ng asawa ko ang ginagawa niya, ang mga ganyang mga bali-balitang ganyan, gawa-gawa sa social media na wala silang pruweba e wag nating gawing political issue dahil showbiz ito, nakakahiya sa taumbayan (Don't worry, my wife knows what she's doing. Let's not politicize news like that that's created in social media without evidence, because this is showbiz, it's embarassing to the public)," he said.

Padilla added that it was up to Binay if she wants to further investigate the matter but stressed that there were more important things to attend to in the Senate.
