Government anti-narcotics authorities seized on Friday night, February 23, around P6.8 million worth of shabu following the arrest of five drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City.
In its initial report, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that Rohaida Mariga 29; Edilyn Ico, 26; Farjana Dumarang, 24; Roxanne Cunanan, 24; and Noraisa Mariga, 24; were collared at around 7:55 p.m. following an intense surveillance operation.
After gathering vital information, the PDEA National Capital Region (NCR) District Office in Quezon City and the police force map out a strategy that led to the arrest of the five suspects.
Aside from the 1,000 grams of shabu, authorities confiscated assorted identification cards (IDs), three cellular phones, a silver Toyota Avanza, passbook with bank transaction slip and P1,000 buy-bust bill on top of boodle money.
To ensure the legitimacy of the operation, a Barangay Central kagawad (village councilman) and tabloid reporter were present during the operation.
The suspects face charges for violation of Article II, Section 5 (sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals) and 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
