Snatcher chased by student, arrested in Sampaloc

A construction worker who snatched a student's mobile phone was arrested after being chased by the victim in Sampaloc, Manila on Friday morning, Feb. 23. 

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Christian Villegas, 26, a resident of Sampaloc, Manila. 

Police said the victim was using her mobile phone inside a jeepney when the suspect boarded the vehicle on Legarda St. in Barangay 412, Sampaloc.

The suspect snatched the mobile phone and ran away.

The victim immediately chased him and shouted for help, catching the attention of the police officers who were patrolling the area.

The police arrested the suspect recovered the student's mobile phone worth P40,000.

Police said the suspect is now detained at MPD Barbosa Police Station (PS-14) and facing robbery charges.
