Senior citizen dies in Batangas fire

BATANGAS CITY – A 73-year-old woman died in a fire that gutted her house in Purok 6, Barangay Calicanto, this city, on Thursday morning, February 22.

Arson investigators identified the victim as Ludivina Espiritu.

The fire started at 6:30 a.m. in Espiritu’s kitchen and also affected her neighbor’s house.

The fire quickly spread as both houses were made of mixed materials.

Her body was found by firemen during clearing operations.

Fire out was declared at 6:48 a.m. and estimated damage to property was P500,000.

Cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
