The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), a United States technology company, to provide digital skills training to Filipinos.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma said IBM’s SkillsBuild platform will be linked to their automated job and applicant matching system, PhilJobNet, and the TESDA online program to provide Filipinos with free skills training and micro-credentials, thereby "improving their employability in businesses adopting digitalization."
Beneficiaries may enroll in courses centered on digital literacy, customer service, data analysis, and other high-demand skills needed in the digital economy.
Laguesma stated that the partnership reflects DOLE, TESDA, and IBM's dedication to providing individuals with the resources and expertise they need.
TESDA Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu and IBM Philippines President and Country General Manager Maria Elena Judan-Jiao both emphasized the vital role of the partnership in furthering the nation's digital skills strategy and ensuring broad and long-term employment growth.
“With this collaboration with DOLE and TESDA, we hope to enable more Filipinos all over the Philippines to have access to employable technology and professional skills on IBM SkillsBuild and the support they need to upskill and seize future career opportunities,”Judan-Jiao said.
