Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas director, presided over the change of command ceremony at the Kanlaon Hall of the Nocppo headquarters in Barangay Estefania here.
De Chavez replaced Police Col. Leo Pamittan who completed his two-year stint in the province on February 15.
In an interview after the turnover rites, De Chavez said that it is challenging on his part to sustain the gains of Nocppo, citing its recognition as best provincial police office in the country last year.
De Chavez said that he will do his best to exceed if not match the excellence and service provided by the Nocppo personnel.
He said that he will continue the programs and projects of Nocppo in line with the program thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the values and mission of the whole province.
One of them is to implement aggressive and honest law enforcement in the fight against all forms of criminality, insurgency, and terrorism, which shall produce quality accomplishments, and not just accomplishments for a show.
De Chavez said that the morale and welfare of the Nocppo personnel shall be primordial because human resource is the best resource of the organization.
“I believe that if everyone feels appreciated and acknowledged for the contributions he or she brings to the organization, everyone will try more, do more, and achieve more. And every individual accomplishment adds up to the overall accomplishments of our unit,” he added.
Prior to his designation in the province, De Chavez was assigned to the Directorate for Intelligence in Camp Crame, Quezon City, and once served as acting provincial police director of Batangas and Rizal provinces.
Wanky urged De Chavez to continue what Nocppo had started. “As we see it, we’re really gaining ground,” he said.
Pamittan thanked the people of Negros for their support during his stint from December 6, 2023 to February 15, 2024.
