Visual artists based in Baras, Rizal and nearby towns have joined hands to help some persons with disability (PWDs) through their two-day art exhibition as part of the town’s National Arts Month celebration.
PWDs in Antipolo City and Baras are the main beneficiaries of the "Art Exhibit for A Cause" featuring paintings and other medium to be held at the Baras Gymnasium on Feb. 28 and 29.
Twin sisters Lorichelle Alapad and Lorily Darag, both home-grown artists of Baras, said their Carika Dolls and paintings are among the dozens of art works that will be showcased in the art exhibit that was organized in collaboration with the BaraSining Artists, Baras Artists Group, and the Municipality of Baras.
Proceeds from the event will benefit PWDs from Baras and Antipolo City.
Among the artists are Adolfo Aco Oliveros, Reynaldo Francisco Jr., Gene Gonzales Leysa, Kyle Henry Nagsuban, Meryll Mechilina, Aimee B. Lee, Jander Mark Halina, Rjhay Apuli, Adler Llagas, Lucia Llagas, Aicel Llagas, Ronald Luchavez, Ben Ryan Alonz, Reyanne Faith Dimas, and the twin sisters.
The office of Baras Mayor Wilfredo C. Robles said the exhibit is one of the town government’s activities to highlight the observance of National Arts Month this February.
The artists said they are hoping that their works will also be featured in other galleries in order to gain more exposure, thus more chances for their art pieces to be noticed by art lovers.
