Dubbed as the “Ford Driving Skills For Life,” the free driving training was held at Club House in Barangay Canumay West.
According to the city’s public information office (PIO), participants included those from the public and private sectors including staff from the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS), barangay workers, and several employees of the City Hall.
Students from the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), Valenzuela Technological College (ValTech), and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) also participated in the training.
Experts from Ford Motors tackled frequent encounters on the road, explained the meaning of road signs, and provided proper safety guidelines for driving.
The attendees were also shown videos of road incidents during the training and discussed the fundamental idea of road safety which involves self-control in challenging circumstances.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian commended the participants, particularly the students, for joining in the training.
“Alam niyo po, hindi po araw-araw na may ganito tayong programa kaya ang mga student na nakilahok ngayon ay very lucky na maging bahagi ng ating training ngayon. Ito po ay supported ng Ford Philippines at tayo po ay nagpapasalamat sa kanilang tulong sa ating pamahalaan.” (It's not every day that we have a program like this, so the students who participated today are very lucky to be part of our training today. This is supported by Ford Philippines, and we are grateful for their help for our government),” Gatchalian said.
The city government aims to develop additional road safety and peace and order programs, highlighting its commitment to enhance the well-being and quality of life for every Pamilyang Valenzuelano, it added.
