PRO-Cordillera seizes P28.3-M marijuana, shabu

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet â€“ The Police Regional Office-Cordillera confiscated illegal drugs worth P28.3 million and arrested 12 drug personalities in anti-illegal drugs operations in the Cordillera from February 11 to 17.

The PRO-Cordillera-Regional Operations Division said 141,570 fully grown marijuana plants and 7.73 grams of dried marijuana with a total standard drug price of P28,314,927 were discovered and burned in Benguet, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.

Suspected shabu totaling 7.78 grams valued at P52,904 was seized and 12 drug personalities were apprehended in Abra, Baguio City, Benguet, and Kalinga.

Eight suspects were caught in buy-bust operations, two by execution of arrest warrants, and two from other law enforcement operations.

Suspects face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
