CEBU CITY – Close to P30 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation in Central Visayas from February 18 to 19.
The series of anti-illegal drug operations also led to the arrest of 589 drug suspects, said Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas chief Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.
Pelare said the biggest confiscation was made in Dauis town, Bohol province where two kilos of shabu worth P15 million were seized.
He said that during the custodial debriefing, it was learned that the shabu came from Luzon and transported to Bohol.
“The large amount of shabu that was confiscated showed that the police are serious in cutting the supply of illegal drugs in Central Visayas,” said Pelare.
Aberin instructed city and provincial police directors to focus on demand reduction as part of the government’s drug-clearing programs.
Despite the enormous seizure of illegal drugs, Pelare said they have yet to receive information that a shabu laboratory has been put up in Central Visayas.
Pelare said the packaging indicated that the illegal drugs came from other places and were brought to Cebu and other areas in the region.
