VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – No damage was reported in a magnitude-4.2 earthquake that rocked this province before dawn on Wednesday, February 21.

Ilocos Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Rhon Arquelada said the tremor did not cause any damage to properties in this province.
Arquelada said the earthquake was felt mostly in the towns in the second district of Ilocos Sur.
The epicenter of the earthquake at 12:16 a.m. was located at four kilometers northwest Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur and had a depth of three kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Banayoyo, Burgos, Gregorio del Pilar, Galimuyod, Lidlida, Quirino, Salcedo, San Emilio, San Esteban, Santiago, Santa Cruz, Santa Lucia, Santa Maria, Suyo, and Candon City;
Intensity 3 in Narvacan, Tagudin, Cervantes, Sugpon, and Alilem, all in Ilocos Sur; Luba, Pilar, Villaviciosa, and San Isidro, all in Abra; and Sudipen, Bangar, Santol, and Balaoan, all in La Union.
It had instrumental intensities of three and two in Candon City and Narvacan, respectively.
No aftershock was felt from the earthquake.
