BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a 37-year-old laborer after he yielded suspected shabu and a gun in a search warrant operation in Hacienda Banilad, Barangay Nanca, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, February 21.

The 605th Maneuver Company (MC) of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-Western Visayas served a search warrant against Ryan Santillan for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.
Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and eight bullets.
Further search recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu worth P612,000, categorizing the suspect as a newly identified individual.
Police Capt. Markelly Laganipa, deputy chief of the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said that the operation stemmed from information from the community about the suspect’s alleged illegal activities.
The operation was held in coordination with the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station and the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (Nocpmfc).
Laganipa said the suspect has yet to reveal why he had a gun. He said that charges for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and dangerous drugs will be filed against the suspect.
