Kapuso actress and socialite Heart Evangelista explained why her father Rey Ongpauco was not present during her renewal of vows with Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero on Feb. 15.

Heart shared a video recap of their celebration at Balesin Island on Instagram. A fan inquired about her father's whereabouts in the comments.

"Congratulations po sorry to ask po wala po si daddy?" the fan commented.

(Congratulations, sorry to ask, where is your daddy)

Heart simply answered the comment "he is recovering :)"

Heart's father was unable to attend the event, but her mother, Cecilia Ongpauco, walked her down the aisle.

"So happy for her, and I'm happier because I'm around to witness this. Finally, I arrived. Nine years too late, but I still made it, Cecilia said on the video.

It can be recalled that Rey and Cecilia did not attend Heart's wedding in 2015. In Heart's vlog from 2021, Rey expressed regret for missing his daughter's wedding.

"Sayang. Naging bati na sana kami no'n," Rey mentioned on the question of why he skipped Heart's wedding. (I regretted it, we could have patched things up that time.)
