The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the public can file their complaints against erring and corrupt police officers before the People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB).
In a statement, the DILG stated the PLEB aims to resolve cases involving any unlawful and illegal acts of police officers.
Further, the DILG noted that the ‘administrative offense’ that may be filed by the aggrieved or concerned citizens before the PLEB include “neglect of duty, irregularities in the performance of a duty, dishonesty’’ and misconduct.
The other violations of the police officers that may be coursed through the PLEB are conduct unbecoming of a police officer, incompetence, oppression and disloyalty to the Philippine government.
However, the PLEB not only metes punishment to the erring cops but also hand out awards and other forms of recognition to the police officers for their exemplary performance of their duties in the communities.
Earlier, the Quezon City PLEB commended the DILG for dismissing the appeal of former Lt. Col. Mark Julio Abong, who was involved in a bar shooting and hit-and-run incidents in the city.
