The DSWD-6 started with Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) with 124 institutions for the easier implementation of its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program in the regional capital of Iloilo City as well as in the provinces of Iloilo, Antique, and Guimaras.
These are 85 funeral service providers, 13 hospitals, nine dialysis centers, five therapy centers, five medical supply services, four pharmacies, and three orthopedic services.
“The partnership helps lessens the burden of those in need,” said DSWD-6 head Carmelo N. Nochete.
For hospitals and health facilities, the DSWD-6 pays portion of the costs directly. For burial assistance, Nochete said that social workers will assess how much can be given.
DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin Razo said that the Crisis Intervention Section (CIS) headed by Beverly Salazar is responsible for implementing AICS.
DSWD-6 is working with other partners in the other provinces of Western Visayas.
