Access road between two villages in Muntinlupa now open

The connecting road between two villages in Muntinlupa was opened on Feb. 20 to ease traffic and provide easy access to motorists.

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon led the blessing and opening of the access road located between R. Pamatian Street in Katarungan Village and Rosemary Street in South Greenheights Village in Barangay Putatan.

He was joined by Rep. Jaime Fresnedi, Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac, City Administrator Allan Cachuela, councilors and department heads.

The construction of the access road, including the pavement, lights and security guard post, started early this month.

The homeowners associations of the two villages signed a memorandum of agreement on Dec. 18 last year to approve the opening of the access road.

“This is the result of a movement for unity—napagkaisa natin ang ating mga kababayan from Katarungan Village and South Greenheights (This is the result of a movement for unity—we united our countrymen from Katarungan Village and South Greenheights),” said Biazon

He added, “Sabi nga, ‘Build bridges, not walls. Because if we build enough walls, we will be imprisoning ourselves.’ Akala kasi natin, it is a form of security to have walls, when in fact, it is a form of imprisoning yourself.”

The opening of the access road is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 02-045 or the Muntinlupa City Alternative Route Entry and Exit System (CARES) that aims to interconnect subdivisions by opening access roads.

According to the city government, for now, only residents of Katarungan Village and South Greenheights Village can use the access road.

“Congratulations to both associations and their members for making this action of unity. Hopefully in the coming days, ‘yung free flow of transportation and movement would result in harmony between the communities na tinatagusan ng CARES,” said Biazon.

The mayor was referring to the CARES access road between Filinvest City in Alabang to subdivisions such as Soldiers Hills, Camella 2, 2D and 2E and Mutual Homes.

Motorists can use the CARES access road going to and from Filinvest City without passing the national road.
