In a statement, Mati City Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat said the donation followed the aftermath of weeks of non-stop heavy rain that affected thousands of residents in the province last month.
The provincial government turned over around 13,000 bags to Mati City. These bags of rice will go to sectoral groups.
Rabat said she wanted to assist those in the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA), Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu), fisherfolks, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and single parents.
The city government of Mati had earlier distributed around 60,000 bags of 10-kilo rice to residents.
Rabat said that aside from the bags of rice, Duterte also donated wheelchairs to the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent in Mati City.
She said that Duterte donated 15 wheelchairs to the provincial and city school divisions for needy students.
Rabat thanked Duterte for consistently assisting the people of Mati City, especially during disasters.
Duterte donated 300 sacks of rice to residents of Mati City last December.
