OPPO aims for smart productivity with the Pad Air

The last time I checked into Android tablets that didn’t cost a pair of kidneys was several years ago. The past couple of months though, I’m starting to see a massive resurgence in the Android tablet space and the technology behind these gizmos have come a long way. And we’re ready for more.  

What’s on my mind right now is the OPPO Pad Air. The OPPO Pad Air is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. It also comes with what OPPO says is an AI System Booster, better yet, it’s the 2.1 version. With this feature, it ensures enhanced multitasking for seamless transition between your apps, from social media, gaming, or streaming.  

It also supports memory with a microSD card slot, which is neat. Too many try to over rely on cloud storage, but not everyone can easily access them, right?  

The OPPO Pad Air runs on the ColorOS 13.1, which gives the tablet its own designs. The ColorOS is also OPPO’s way of telling you they want the Pad Air to be more than just a tablet. They want it to be your productivity device. The ColorOS 13.1 is designed for what OPPO calls “smart productivity.” It is capable of heavy multitasking, easy file transfers across devices, and the Meeting Assistant. The Meeting Assistant will recognize if you’re on a video meeting, so it would optimize network for you and make notifications less distracting.  

For the battery, the OPPO Pad Air has 7100mAh. Curious though, the VOOC charging, one of the things that OPPO is famous for, isn’t present in the Pad Air. Shouldn’t matter though as the battery and the processor working in tandem would ensure longevity of the tablet. It charges with 18W, so it’s not like anyone would be missing out anyway. 

What I’m liking in many tablets today is the display. We are, after all, going to be spending much of our time staring at the display. So, OPPO might as well pump it up to look real pretty. The Pad Air has 2K display with a 60Hz refresh rate.  

The Pad Air has Dolby Atmos quad-speaker system, which should mean it’s loud and clear. I used to wonder why bother with speakers since most people will be putting on earphones anyway. Then I remembered, this is a tablet, and it opens sharing for entertainment. I heard some good stuff coming out on Netflix this February. 

The OPPO Pad Air costs P11,999. Not bad, I say. If we ever get our hands on one, expect a full and detailed review.
