A Korean national suffered from second to third degree burns during a fire that gutted a residential area in Quezon City last February 14.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started around 8:38 p.m, at the New Capitol Estate 1 in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
The BFP said that the fire started from the house of a Korean national identified as Kim Jong Hoo, 67.
It added that the fire quickly spread to two other houses, including the residence of Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil, the BFP said.
Authorities said that Hoo suffered from second and third degree burns on his right arm and body and was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center.
The fire was raised to the first alarm at 8:51 p.m. and was declared under control at 9:49 p.m.
The fire was extinguished at around 10:44 p.m.
Authorities added that no one from Garafil’s family was hurt.
The BFP is conducting a thorough investigation.
Reports indicated that Hoo was allegedly engaged in an unregistered printing business.
