Easterlies trigger flash flood, landslide warnings in VisMin
Flash floods or landslides may be expected in parts of Visayas and Mindanao in times of moderate to heavy rains due to the easterlies.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Feb. 20, said the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean continue to prevail over the archipelago, particularly in the eastern part of the country.
It said Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
It also warned the public to be wary of flash floods or landslides that may occur in times of moderate to heavy rains.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be felt due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
The public was also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may persist over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon still due to the easterlies.
