Two '5-6' money lenders arrested for pointing gun at fellow Indian in Manila
Two Indian nationals engaged in “5-6” money lending business were arrested after pointing a gun at their fellow citizen in Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila, police reported on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The Manila Police District identified the arrested suspects as Joga Singh Sidhu, 32, and Nitik Singh, 22, residents of Parañaque City.
Authorities said the suspects were apprehended on Feb. 12 by Manila police on complaints of the victim, Narinder Kumar, also an Indian money lender.
According to the victim, he was riding his motorcycle when the suspects, who were also on board a motorcycle, chased him and pointed a gun at him.
Residents in the area were able to pacify the commotion and called the police.
During investigation, police learned that rivalry over '5-6' money lending business triggered the argument between the suspects and the victim.
Authorities were able to confiscate the motorcycle that the suspects used in the crime and an unlicensed .45-caliber gun from Joga.
During questioning, the suspects told police that they were just trying to scare the victim.
However, MPD Baseco Police Station (PS-13) commander Lt. Col. Emmanuel Gomez said that there was a possibility that the suspects would kill the victim if police had not responded immediately.
The suspects are now detained at the General Assignment and Investigation Section (GAIS), facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
