2 fake dentists caught in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested two fake dentists and their associate in an entrapment operation in Barangay Libertad here on Sunday, February 18.

Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the operation was conducted after lawmen posed as patients and managed to avail of the suspects’ services through social media.

Ometer said suspects failed to produce documents authorizing them to practice dentistry.

Suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft urged the people here to report to the police individuals illegally practicing a medical profession.

“I urge the public to be vigilant against these fake dental practitioners who can cause either minor or major harm to the victims,” Kraft said.

The operation was witnessed by the Philippine Dental Association-Agusan del Norte chapter.
