Robin Padilla hits gossip-driven PH politics; urges politicians to observe discipline, respect
Instead of gossiping, Senator Robinhood Padilla said politicians should learn to have discipline and respect, like the one practiced by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Padilla stressed this during the observance of World Hijab Day at the AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo.
Ang pulitika natin puro tsismis na rin (If our politicians will learn discipline and respect from our AFP, we need not make a living out of gossip. Our politics is full of gossip)," Padilla said in his keynote speech.
The senator also said he hopes politicians would learn to be professional.
(I hope politicians will learn discipline and professionalism because this is the starting point of progress),” he said.
If we can learn this discipline, the day will come when Filipinos will progress not only in terms of wearing the hijab but in all aspects such as culture, language and tradition)," he added.
At the same time, Padilla said he is heartened over AFP chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.’s announcement authorizing women in the AFP to wear hijab.
Likewise, he expressed hope that the bill providing for a National Hijab Day in the Philippines on Feb. 1 will finally earn the nod of Congress.
"Hiling natin sa ating mga namumuno sa Executive at Legislative, mas lakihin pa budget ninyo hindi lang sa organization kundi sa sinusulong ninyo na ganitong bagay, winning the hearts and minds of the Filipino people (I ask our leaders in the executive and legislative to increase the AFP's budget for its programs to win the hearts and minds of the Filipino people)," he said.
There is no compulsion in religion (I hope the time will come our senators will not think Muslims are imposing on them. There is no compulsion in religion)," he said.
