Cebu mom nabbed for online sexual exploitation of children

CEBU CITY – A 31-year-old mother from Pinamungajan, Cebu was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting her children online.

A MINOR was rescued after authorities arrested a woman allegedly involved in online sexual exploitation in Pinamungajan town, Cebu. (NBI-7)

The suspect Charissa Labajo is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Child Pornography), RA 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act (Anti-OSAEC & Anti-CSAEM Act), RA 9208 as amended by RA 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2012, and RA 7610 or  Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

The National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas (NBI-7) arrested the suspect during the serving of a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data issued by Judge Ramon Daomilas Jr. of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 11 in her home in Sitio Bulubugan, Barangay Tajao, on Thursday, February 1.

The NBI-7 was able to detect the woman’s alleged illegal activities after it received a case referral from the Homeland Security Investigation Office or the US Homeland.

The woman was reported to be a “high-volume producer and seller of child sexual abuse and exploitation materials and engages shamelessly in online child sexual abuse and exploitation.”

The NBI-7 said the suspect herself offers “live shows” to foreign clients.  

In one of the suspect’s transactions with Homeland and an agent of NBI-7, she allegedly peddled her eight-year-old daughter by offering the minor’s explicit photos and videos or child sexual abuse or exploitation materials.

The suspect also allowed “meet-ups” and even volunteered to arrange the undercover agent’s accommodation should he travel to Cebu.  

During the transaction, Labajo asked P2,000 to pay for her house’s electric bill.  In exchange, she initiated to offer a video of her minor daughter while taking a bath facing what appeared to be a mobile phone camera.
 
On January 25,  the NBI-7 was able to pinpoint the exact location of the suspect’s house where the pornographic materials were produced and the sexual exploitation were committed.

Aside from arresting the suspect, authorities also rescued her eight-year-old daughter and her 12-year-old son as well as the 15-year-old niece of her lesbian partner.

The NBI-7 also seized the device used to produce explicit photos and videos or child sexual abuse or exploitation materials.
