Under the ProjectTEEN initiative, the parents received P10,000 each from the local government.
Ynares assured them that the city is their partner in nurturing their children and their families.
He explained that the financial assistance is just one of the city's numerous interventions aimed at helping adolescent parents in their huge roles and responsibilities as young fathers and mothers. Some of the city's interventions include:
- Psychosocial Support
- Family Planning
- Social Services
ProtecTEEN is a social welfare model of intervention that intends to create a supportive environment for adolescent mothers and their families. It includes the empowerment of teenage mothers through the provision of direct social services and assistance, referral to other agencies, and organizing peer advocates.
ProtecTEEN seeks to help adolescent mothers, 10 to 19 years old, their children, partners, and other household members who provide support to them. It is piloted in three local government units -- Antipolo City, Malabon City, and Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
