Seventeen, NCT Dream, Stray Kids, IVE win grand prizes at 31st Hanteo Music Awards

K-pop groups Seventeen, NCT Dream, Stray Kids and IVE emerged as the biggest winners on the second day of the 31st Hanteo Music Awards held on Feb. 18 at the  Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. 

The 31st Hanteo Music Awards ceremony was held for two days on Feb. 17 and 18. It was presented by Hanteo Global, which operates the Hanteo Chart, a popular music chart in South Korea, and the fandom app WhosFan.

The four groups each won a “daesang” or grand prize, the highest award. Each grand prize was based on Hanteo Global score (50 percent), global voting score (20 percent), and judges’ score (30 percent). 

NCT Dream won the grand prize for Best Artist and the members thanked fans for the award. 

"There was a lot of effort and help from many people before we received this award. My sincere thanks to Czennies [NCT fans]. I want to say thank you. We will continue to work hard to become an even better NCT Dream,” said Mark. 

Jaemin, another member of NCT Dream, said, "Thanks to the support of our fans, we were able to come this far. On behalf of the other members who couldn't come today, we would like to say that we are truly grateful. This grand prize was given to us by our fans, so we will work hard to repay it.” 

Seventeen won Best Album, Stray Kids bagged Best Performance and IVE grabbed the Best Song grand prize. 

The Artist of the Year (“bonsang” or main prize), the second highest award, went to BTS’ Jungkook, Jimin and V, NCT Dream, Stray Kids, Seventeen, IVE, ENHYPEN, Aespa, Tomorrow X Together, NewJeans, ATEEZ, (G)I-DLE, Le Sserafim, NCT 127 and ZeroBaseOne.
