Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri has signed the subpoena against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros revealed this at the continuation of the Senate Committee on Women and Children's inquiry into the alleged human trafficking and sexual abuses committed by Quiboloy and several leaders of his church.
Hontiveros expressed her gratitude to the Senate leadership for prioritizing the sentiments of victim-survivors despite the political issues hounding the Upper Chamber.
"Nagpapasalamat ako sa (I am thankful for the) Senate President for signing the subpoena against Apollo Quiboloy. My office has made it our policy to put the voices of women and children first, to put the voices of the victim-survivors at the center. And I am glad that our institution under the current Senate leadership has made it its policy too)," Hontiveros said in her opening statement at the Senate hearing Monday, February 19.
"Yes, the subpoena against Apollo Quiboloy is out," she stressed.
As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, Hontiveros said she will not allow any political noise to sideline the panel's ongoing investigation.
"Gaano man kalakas ang ingay ng politika, mas malakas dapat ang panawagan para sa katarungan (No matter if there is so much political noise, the strong call for justice should prevail)," the lawmaker emphasized.
