DPWH builds new BOC building in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-6 (Western Visayas) is constructing the new Bureau of Customs (BOC) building in this city.

DPWH-6 Regional Director Sanny Boy Oropel said the P98.5-million BOC building under construction is located at the Port of Iloilo compound managed by the Philippine Port Authority (PPA) in Lapuz District.

“This will be three-story reinforced concrete building with roof deck that will house the officials and employees of BOC and will serve as conducive venue for various public transactions,” said Oropel after the recent groundbreaking ceremony.

This building is bigger than the office of the BOC-Port of Iloilo at the heritage building of the old Iloilo Customs House in the downtown area here.

The building which will have offices and conference rooms has provisions for curtain walls, automatic fire sprinkler system, water pumping system, ventilation, and air conditioning.

“With this structure, government services can be easily and efficiently delivered to the people,” added Oropel.
