CARMONA CITY, Cavite – The local government unit (LGU) opened its first cityhood anniversary celebration on Monday, Feb. 19.

The opening program was led by Cavite 5th District Rep. Roy M. Loyola, Mayor Dahlia A. Loyola, and other local officials.
Also in attendance were Department of Social Welfare and Development Sec. Rex Gatchalian, Gov. Jonvic C. Remulla, Vice Gov. Athena Tolentino, General Mariano Alvarez Mayor Maricel Echevarria Torres, and Board Member Aidel Belamide.

During his speech, Rep. Loyola thanked everyone who made Carmona’s conversion into a city possible.
“Mga kababayan, araw na'tin to. Magdiwang tayo para sa lalong matayog at mayabong na kaunlaran at masaganang programa at proyekto sa ating lungsod (My fellow citizens, this is our day. Let's celebrate for a more remarkable and flourishing development and prosperous programs and projects in our city),” the congressman said.
After the opening ceremony, colorful floats were paraded in the city center, with various groups, schools, businesses, and socio-civic groups participating.

The LGU prepared a week-long series of activities to celebrate its cityhood anniversary, which include an amateur singing contest, a job fair, Little Miss Carmona, and an awarding ceremony for top taxpayers, corporate social responsibility programs, and non-government organizations.

On Feb. 23, 2023, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed Republic Act 11938, which converted the Carmona from a municipality into a component city.
The conversion was ratified through a plebiscite on July 8, 2023.
