The Las Piñas City government and Senator Imee Marcos distributed assistance to more than 3,000 beneficiaries of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the distribution of assistance was held for two-days at the Verdant covered court in Barangay Pamplona Tres on Feb.17 and 18.
Aguilar said a total of P9-million in cash assistance was given to 3,000 beneficiaries who received P3,000 cash each.
She said Sen. Marcos worked with her, Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to oversee the smooth distribution of assistance.
The mayor said the joint efforts of Sen. Marcos and Vice-Mayor April ensured the effective execution of the AICS program which provides a lifeline to those in need through medical assistance, burial support, transportation, education aid, food and financial assistance among others.
Aguilar said the increasing number of AICS beneficiaries illustrates the pressing need for support and the government's action to meet the demand.
She said the presence of Senator Marcos not only heightened the event's visibility but also reinforced the national government's support for local initiatives aimed at alleviating the hardships being faced by many Filipinos.
The mayor added that the success of the two-day AICS program in Las Piñas City highlights the power of collaborative governance and the positive impact it can have on the lives of thousands.
Aguilar also added that as the city continues to progress through economic and social challenges, the concerted efforts of local and national officials, as exemplified by the event, are crucial in ensuring that the welfare of the most vulnerable is prioritized and addressed with compassion and efficiency.
