APARRI, Cagayan – The families of Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda here and his five companions, dubbed the Aparri 6, who were gunned down one year ago in Nueva Vizcaya, marked their first death anniversary on Monday, February 19.
“Today, we commemorate the tragic death of Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda and his five companions, all the pain comes back,” Alameda’s family said in a Facebook post.
A prayer of comfort participated in by the family of the Aparri 6 and their relatives and friends was held in a church here on Monday morning. A community prayer vigil was scheduled in the evening.
Cagayan Gov. Manuel N. Mamba was disappointed over the lack of justice in the killing of Alameda and Abraham Ramos Jr., John Duane Alameda, Alvin Abel, Ismael Nanay Sr., and Alexander delos Angeles on February 19, 2023.
Mamba lamented that no mastermind has been identified a year after the killing.
"Wala pang linaw ang kasong ito, wala pa ring na-file na kaso kung sino ang may utak dito sa kabila na nagkaroon na ng intervention at investigation ang Senate. I hope na magkaroon naman ito ng linaw sa mga darating na araw (This case is yet to be resolved. No mastermind has been identified despite a Senate investigation. I hope the case progresses in the next few days),” Mamba said.
