“I shared the Tree Park Network of Iloilo City consisting of three programs, in conjunction with the rehabilitation of seven district plazas and the mangroves at the Esplanades," Treñas said.

Treñas was the only mayor invited from cities in the Philippines.

He presented the RISE program – Resilient Iloilo for Sustainable Environment – particularly the ongoing Tree Park Network Project of the city during the Global Mayors Dialogue: Future Readiness of Cities program.

The Tree Park Network of Iloilo City will establish eco-forests in three districts – the Tree Park in Barangay Lanit, Jaro District; the Beach Forest in Barangay Boulevard, Molo District, and the Mangrove Eco-Park in Barangay Hinactacan, La Paz District.

The city government partnered with the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)-Bahandi Chapter for the design of the tree park.

“The tree parks vie to become an avenue for world-class architecture, design, and environmental conservation models that may lead the city to greater heights,” Treñas added.
