Teen drowns on Cagayan River

ECHAGUE, Isabela – A 17-year-old teenager drowned on the Cagayan River in Barangay Malitao here on Saturday, February 17.

Police identified the victim as Jenelyn Culalan of Santiago City, Isabela.

Culalan and a 15-year-old female student were swimming on the river when they were taken by the strong current at about 4 p.m.

The 15-year-old girl was rescued.

Culalan’s remains were recovered by rescuers after an extensive search on Sunday morning, February 18.
