According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), RA 11979 converted PUP Parañaque into PUP-Parañaque City Campus.
“The campus of the PUP located in the City of Parañaque, National Capital Region (NCR) is hereby converted into a regular campus of the PUP to be known as the PUP-Parañaque City Campus,” Section 2 of RA 11979 stated.
The law was signed last Thursday, Feb. 15, and will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, or in a newspaper of general circulation.
“Under the law, the PUP-Parañaque City Campus will offer short-term, technical-vocational, undergraduate, and graduate courses within its areas of competency and specialization,” the PCO said.
The campus will also be mandated “to undertake research and extension services, and production activities in support of the socioeconomic development and to provide progressive leadership in these areas.”
Marcos also signed three bills to make quality education more accessible for Filipinos.
The new laws will expand the curricular offerings of Bulacan State University (BulSu), as well as establish the Pampanga State Agricultural University-Floridablanca Campus and a College of Medicine at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC).
