Valenzuela gov't launches 'People's Day sa Barangay' caravan

The Valenzuela City government on Saturday, Feb. 17, launched the "People's Day sa Barangay" Caravan" to make various City Hall services closer and more accessible to the residents.

The caravan featured several booths and help desks that offered free social services, including legal consultation, wifi and printing, medical assistance payouts, burial assistance payouts, free consultation with City Hall officers-in-charge, open forum, free bread, and coffee, and a City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) help desk.

It aims to promote inclusivity and accessibility to social services in all the barangays focusing on addressing the questions, concerns, and requests of Valenzuelanos from every barangay and delivering immediate action.

It also provides an opportunity to open a community dialogue between Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian and six homeowner’s associations in the barangay.

According to the city government, the event catered to approximately 300 attendees on Saturday.

Among the beneficiaries were 159 recipients of medical assistance, seven residents who received burial assistance, four people who received wheelchairs, and one who was given a walker.

The caravan was open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and is part of the activities prepared for the month-long commemoration of the city’s 26th Charter Day.
