Fire Officer 2 Reymar Banaglorioso, chief of the intelligence and investigation unit of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Murcia, said the fire broke out around 2:22 a.m. at the victim’s house.
The victim and his 78-year-old grandfather were asleep when the fire started. The grandfather awakened the victim and they moved out of the burning house.
However, the victim went back to the house to retrieve something but he was trapped. The victim’s remains were found in the comfort room.
The fire destroyed two houses owned by the victim’s relatives and partially damaged another house.
Damage to property was placed at P300,000. Fire out was declared at 3:17 a.m. Banaglorioso said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
He said an unattended lighted candle is a possible cause of the fire as the victim’s grandfather lit one at the altar in memory of his wife who passed away last month.
