​There is a recruitment company deceiving Filipinos who want to find work in Europe.
The Consul General of the Philippines in Geneva on Friday night, Feb. 17, warned the public not to fall victim to such a "bogus" scheme.
In a statement, it bared it received a report that a Filipino recruiter operating recruitment companies are supposedly engaged in illicit activities by offering Filipinos employment opportunities in Europe in exchange for 500-2000 euros or P30,000 to P120,000.
In some instances, the consulate said, the recruitment activities are being undertaken by foreign nationals working with the Filipino recruiter.
"These activities amount to illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons punishable by law and should be avoided at all cost," it added.
The consulate said that the Philippine government is taking the matter seriously and is now employing measures to address the issue.
It also urged those who have fallen victim to seek assistance and file complaints "in line with legal processes and respect for human rights."
