Lawyer Karol Joseph Chiu, Secretary to the Mayor, said that it has a total area of 179,087-square meters and valued at P268,630,500.
Chiu said payment will be taken from the city’s loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
The city acquired the lot from Del Rio Realty and Development of Bacolod Inc., according to Chiu. It is adjacent to the existing relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre, he added.
Chiu said the City Engineer’s Office has inspected the area and deemed it suitable for the housing project.
Based on the agreement, Chiu said that the city has to pay 85 percent of the total amount and the seller will pay for the taxes and process the transfer of title to the city.
Chiu said that Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez wanted to ensure that city-acquired properties should be transferred to the city government.
He said that residents of Barangay 12 affected by the Manokan Country development will be among the first beneficiaries of the new relocation site.
